Nollywood star Adunni Ade has shared that veteran actor Ramsey Nouah played a pivotal role in her decision to leave her modeling career in the United States and relocate to Nigeria to pursue acting.
Speaking during an episode of Hip TV’s Trending, hosted by reality star KimOprah, Ade revealed her admiration for Nouah and credited him with giving her the encouragement to make the bold move in 2011.
“He [Ramsey Nouah] was the one who gave me confirmation to move to Nigeria,” Ade shared. “I met him before I came to Nigeria and I told him what my goals and aspirations were. He gave me a very good pep talk, and I moved down.”
Despite her admiration for Nouah, Ade noted that it took years before she had the chance to work alongside him. “Imagine from 2011, never getting to work with him. And this is someone you’ve always admired,” she said.
Her opportunity finally came unexpectedly after a chance encounter at a film festival. “The next day, I got a call from a producer, Chris, his very good friend, and he said, ‘Adunni, what did you give Ramsey to eat? Ramsey just cast you.’ I had goosebumps. I was so happy to work with him on set.”
Ade, who has since featured in over 250 Nollywood films in both English and Yoruba, expressed her admiration for Nouah, not just as an actor but as a person. “I’ve seen him as Ramsey Nouah the human being, Ramsey Nouah the director, and Ramsey Nouah the co-actor. He is just a phenomenal human being,” she added.
Ade first gained prominence in Nollywood with her debut role in the Yoruba-language film You or I in 2013.
